LOS ANGELES, CA – September 25th 2026 – Back Lot Music announces the release of THE INCOMER Original Motion Picture Soundtrack with music by Tom Kingston and remixes by the film’s executive producer, Moby. The album is available everywhere digital music is sold and streamed.
“From the moment director Louis Paxton sent me an early draft of the script, I fell in love with The Incomer and its wildly original mix of off-kilter comedy, magical realism, folk-story animation and borderline horror – all underpinned by what is ultimately a heartfelt story of human connection. I relished the challenge of composing a score which not only captures and defines these very different tonal layers, but which also helps the film navigate and move between them by tying everything together with a cogent sonic identity,” Kingston notes.
“Whilst working with folk instruments and fragments of traditional songs to ground the film in its evocative Scottish island setting, I used these instruments often in unusual ways, as well as writing in odd time-signatures, and overtly looping, sampling and pitch-shifting various elements. The aim was to create music which felt at once familiar, and yet which had a palpable sense, just like the film and its characters, of playing entirely by its own rules, completely removed from ‘normality’. Collaborating with Louis and enjoying such creative freedom and license to experiment in scoring The Incomer was a hugely rewarding experience, and to have my music for the film reworked and reimagined by a legendary artist and musical pioneer like Moby is beyond exciting.”
Speaking about his collaboration with Kingston, Moby notes, “The Incomer is an unbelievably special and unique movie, and the score is equally special and unique. As [an Executive Producer] of the film, when I first heard the score, I sort of thought to myself, ‘I’ve remixed Daft Punk and Michael Jackson and Metallica and the Beastie Boys; what if I try to do some remixes of The Incomer score?’ And so, well, I did. I don’t think I’ve in any way done remixes that are better than or an improvement on the score, but hopefully just remixes that channel some of what makes The Incomer score and film so great and unique.”
ABOUT TOM KINGSTON
Tom Kingston is a versatile and dynamic composer and producer, lauded for his commercial releases as one half of the duo Solomon Grey as well as for his composition for television and film, his primary focus since the band’s hiatus in 2021. Combining classical and jazz training with contemporary production, Tom is equally at home working with leading orchestras and musicians as he is harnessing electronic and experimental sounds, often combining both worlds to powerful effect.
Tom has most recently composed music for UK comedy The Incomer (2026), starring Domhnall Gleeson, Gail Rankin, and John Hannah. The feature debut from director Louis Paxton, the film took home the Grand Jury Prize in the NEXT section at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, as well as opening the Edinburgh International Film Festival in August. With a modern and experimental approach, Tom’s distinctive score melds traditional folk influences, tape loops, and off-kilter rhythms with raw and visceral strings to create a truly unique sonic identity.
Previous feature film work includes US indie movie Mabel (2024) from director Nicholas Ma, son of acclaimed cellist Yo-Yo, where the story of a nature-obsessed tweenager whose best friend is a potted plant is beautifully accompanied by Tom’s poised chamber score, performed by the acclaimed London Contemporary Orchestra. Other recent projects of note include scoring Trevor Noah docuseries The World According To Football for Showtime/Paramount+, as well as providing additional music for global Netflix hit Apple Cider Vinegar.
ABOUT MOBY
Moby was born Richard Melville Hall in Harlem, NYC in 1965. His father gave him his nickname “Moby” when he was 10 minutes old, as a result of his hereditary relationship to Herman Melville. Moby started playing classical music and studying music theory when he was 9 years old, and then came of age musically in the punk rock scene in and around NYC in the early 80’s. He released his first single, “Go,” in 1991 (listed as one of “Rolling Stone” magazine’s best records of all time), and has been making albums ever since. He has sold over 20,000,000 albums worldwide.
In addition to making his own records, Moby has also produced and remixed artists as varied and disparate as David Bowie, Public Enemy, Ozzy Osbourne, The Beastie Boys, and Daft Punk, to name a few. Moby also works with and supports a variety of non-profit organizations, including The Humane Society, Emily’s List, The ACLU, and The Institute for Music and Neurologic Function.
He has also expanded into film and television through Little Walnut, the production company he co-founded with Lindsay Hicks. In addition to The Incomer, Little Walnut’s recent projects have premiered at Cannes, TIFF, Tribeca, and Edinburgh. They include Eternal Return, starring Naomi Scott and Kit Harington and opening theatrically in December 2026; Cannes-selected animated feature Jim Queen, for which Little Walnut is producing the English-language version; Tribeca selections Full Circle: The First All Black Everest Ascent and Selah; and psychological folk horror Häxan, recently shot in Sweden, with Moby composing the score.
