FINDING EMILY is out in UK cinemas today and coming to US theaters August 28th

LOS ANGELES, CA – May 22nd 2026 – Back Lot Music announces the release of Focus Features’ FINDING EMILY Music from the Motion Picture, featuring music by Spike Fearn, Blossoms, W. H. Lung, and Morgan Kibby. The album is available everywhere digital music is sold and streamed, and available to preorder on vinyl by Silva Screen Records.

FINDING EMILY follows a lovesick musician who is given the wrong number for his dream girl and teams up with a driven psychology student to find her. Together, they spark a hilarious campus-wide frenzy that tests their own hearts and ambitions along the way. The film is out in UK cinemas today and hits US theaters nationwide on August 28th.

The filmmakers recruited Morgan Kibby to compose the film’s score—a classical pianist, cellist and vocalist, Kibby was a longtime member of the French act M83 and has worked with artists including Harry Styles and Lady Gaga. She previously scored films including Mothering Sunday and such TV series such as Amazon’s The Power. “I was thrilled at the possibility of helping them create a musical world for a film set in Manchester, and I think my work as a musician in a band as well as a composer was a wonderful bonus for the team,” Kibby says.

In terms of artists, MacDonald was particularly drawn to W. H. Lung. “They had such a refreshing sound that mashed different genres, and their lyrics were so beautiful—plus I’m a sucker for some melancholy synthpop. The scene called for quite a riotous energetic track, but what I really liked about ‘How to Walk’ was that it was rowdy but also lyrically hopeful and romantic.”

In the film, musician Owen also takes the stage, joining the group for a bit of additional guitar. “I really like the fact that he’s a musician,” says Spike Fearn of his character. “I picked up learning how to sing and play the guitar somewhat, so that’s been nice.”

Additionally, FINDING EMILY features the band Blossoms who perform the (fittingly titled) “There’s a Reason Why (I Never Returned Your Calls)” from their 2018 album Cool Like You. “Blossoms were jovially written into the script from the start as a kinda dream-scenario situation,” MacDonald says. “They’re really clever and soulful musicians with such a unique vibe, and I love the way they dress!”

ABOUT BLOSSOMS
Almost a decade on from their 2016 debut, which earned them a number one album and a Mercury Prize nomination, Blossoms have become one of the UK’s most consistent chart-topping bands, with Foolish Loving Spaces (2020), Ribbon Around the Bomb (2022) and 2024’s Gary all reaching the top spot. Throughout 2025, Blossoms played live across the UK, returning to major festivals including Glastonbury, performing a series of outdoor summer shows and continuing to take Gary to ever-expanding audiences. They carried that momentum into early 2026 with a European headline tour, performing in cities including Berlin, Paris and Amsterdam.

ABOUT W. H. LUNG
W. H. Lung are a Manchester group known for blending motorik rhythms, shimmering synths, post-punk energy and euphoric indie-pop hooks into something that feels both nostalgic and futuristic. Since emerging with their debut album Incidental Music, the band have built a reputation for emotionally charged, danceable records and intense live shows, drawing comparisons to acts like LCD Soundsystem, New Order and Can while carving out a distinctly Northern identity of their own. Their sound moves between propulsive krautrock grooves, widescreen electronic textures and soaring melodic songwriting, with albums like Vanities and Every Inch of Earth Pulsates pushing further into expansive, cinematic territory.

ABOUT MORGAN KIBBY
Morgan Kibby is a classically trained pianist, cellist, and vocalist who began her career performing with orchestra, the San Francisco Opera, jazz ensembles, and musical theater.

As a songwriter and producer, Kibby has contributed to multiple Grammy-nominated and chart-topping albums for artists including Panic! At The Disco, Harry Styles, and Lady Gaga. She has released solo work under the monikers White Sea and Sue Clayton, and remixed more than 25 tracks for artists such as Lorde and The Weeknd. Her work on Panic! At The Disco’s #1 single “Hey Look Ma I Made It” earned her a BMI Pop Award.

Recent highlights include the BAFTA-shortlisted Mothering Sunday (starring Olivia Colman, Colin Firth, and Josh O’Connor), Netflix’s global #1 series The Watcher (BMI Award), Disney’s Queens ( 2 Royal Television Society Awards, Best Music), and the BAFTA-winning series Am I Being Unreasonable? Morgan also had the distinct honor of testifying in Congress on behalf of her peers regarding digital copyright law.
