With Music from King Princess, New Radicals & Score by Este Haim & Christopher Stracey ONE NIGHT ONLY, directed by Will Gluck, is in theaters August 7th
LOS ANGELES, CA – July 31, 2026 – Back Lot Music announces the release of Universal Pictures’ ONE NIGHT ONLY (Music from the Motion Picture) with score by composers Este Haim & Christopher Stracey and music from King Princess & New Radicals. Additionally, the One Night Only Official Playlist is now on Spotify, featuring more music from the film.
One Night Only, directed and produced by Will Gluck, is a swoony, modern romantic comedy about two strangers – Allie and Owen – who crash into each other in an ever-so-slightly fictionalized New York on the one night of the year when single people are allowed to have sex. They may be the only two singles in the city looking for more than a quick encounter, but a series of missteps and side quests complicate their night. One Night Only arrives in theaters August 7.
For the score of One Night Only, Gluck reunited with Este Haim and Christopher Stracey, whose work on Anyone but You helped shape that film’s bright, contemporary sound. Haim, the bassist and vocalist for the Grammy®-nominated band HAIM, and Stracey, an electronic musician, producer and composer, bring a songwriter’s instinct to their film scores, building music that feels immediate, character-driven and emotionally precise. Here, they apply that sensibility to a different kind of romantic momentum: the ticking-clock energy of a story that unfolds over a single night, with music that leans into the absurdity of the premise while still protecting the sincerity of Allie and Owen’s connection.
The film’s song choices follow that same impulse, treating modern dating with both affection and a wink. The film opens with indie-pop artist King Princess’ cover of John Paul Young’s “Love Is in the Air,” produced by Haim and Stracey. The soundtrack also includes “One Night Only (Break Loose Break Free!),” an original song written and produced by New Radicals for the film.
ABOUT ESTE HAIM
Este is best known as the bassist and vocalist of the pop-rock trio Haim, which she formed with her younger sisters Alana and Danielle in 2006. She co-writes all of Haim’s songs.
In 2021, Haim composed the score for the Netflix limited series Maid. She became involved in the project through a friend who was executive producing the show. Haim collaborated with Christopher Stracey, a member of the electronic duo Bag Raiders. While Christopher produced and played synth-based sounds, Haim played most of the instruments. While working on the music for Maid, Haim and Christopher were approached to score the film Cha Cha Real Smooth. She acted as a music consultant for the second season of HBO’s The White Lotus. Haim wrote original music for the Netflix teen movie Do Revenge. She collaborated with composer Amanda Yamate.
In 2023, Haim worked for the first time as an executive music producer on the National Geographic limited series A Small Light. Composer Ariel Marx wrote an original score for the series, with Haim producing an accompanying soundtrack of cover versions of songs from the 1930s and 1940s. Contributors to the soundtrack included Danielle Haim, Angel Olsen, Remi Wolf and Weyes Blood.
Haim continues to be in demand for film score projects. In 2024, Haim scored Suncoast for Searchlight and Anyone But You at Sony, both co-scores with Christopher Stracey and You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah, co-scored with Amanda Yamate and most recently Sunny Dancer, co-scored with Zachary Dawes for Dir. George Jaques, Netflix’s Voicemails For Isabelle with Yamate and Universal’s One Night Only directed by Will Gluck.
Haim is a multi-instrumentalist who plays bass guitar, drums and guitar. Haim prefers to play without a pick and rarely uses effects. Bass Magazine described her style as diverse, “which allows her to both play for the song and play for the bass, at all times”.
ABOUT CHRISTOPHER STRACEY
Christopher Stracey is a composer, record producer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist currently based in Los Angeles, California. He scored Cooper Raiff’s Cha Cha Real Smooth, alongside collaborator Este Haim, which won the Audience Award at the Sundance Film Festival 2022, and was released by Apple. Also, in collaboration with Este, Christopher scored the Netflix hit TV series Maid. He has also scored the feature film War Pony alongside collaborator Mato Wayuhi for Riley Keough and Gina Gammell, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival 2022 and was awarded the Caméra d’Or.
In 2023, Christopher continued his collaboration with Este Haim on Will Gluck’s Anyone But You for Sony and Fox Searchlight’s Suncoast starring Laura Dern and Woody Harrelson.
As a solo composer, Christopher scored the drama / thriller Manodrome starring Jesse Eisenberg and Adrien Brody which premiered at the Berlin Film Festival, and the drama sci-fi feature Fingernails for Apple starring Jessie Buckley, Riz Ahmed, Annie Murphy and Jeremy Allen White.
Christopher is currently scoring the Netflix series The Body and along with Este Haim the upcoming Universal film, One Night Only directed by Will Gluck in theatres August 2026.
With a classically trained background, Christopher grew up studying violin from an early age, and later moved on to guitar, clarinet, saxophone and keyboards before discovering the near unlimited possibilities of electronic music production. As a songwriter and producer he has worked across almost all musical genres and styles with popular artists ranging from Orville Peck, to Ellie Goulding, to Westside Boogie, to Diplo and more. He is also one half of Australian synth-pop/dance music group Bag Raiders which has earned platinum and gold records in multiple countries around the world including the USA, Australia, Germany and more.
ABOUT KING PRINCESS
King Princess is the project of Brooklyn-based Mikaela Straus, a vocalist, a multi-instrumentalist, a songwriter, a producer, and an actor. Her music has accrued over one billion streams. She has collaborated with Fiona Apple, Florence Welch, and Aaron Dessner; toured with The Strokes and Florence + The Machine; and participated in campaigns for Gucci and Calvin Klein. Her third album, Girl Violence, was released in 2025 via section1. King Princess made her acting début in the same year, starring in Nine Perfect Strangers, on Hulu, and in the feature film Song Sung Blue.
