LOS ANGELES, CA, July 23, 2026 – Back Lot Music announces the release of A Parallel World,” an original song featured in DreamWorks Animation’s upcoming film Forgotten Island and performed by hit Filipino girl group BINI. The track was written and produced by Emmy Award®-nominated composer Nathan Matthew David, who also composed the film’s score, and American artist, composer and record producer Shawn Wasabi.

Universal Pictures music supervisor Angela Leus had BINI on her radar from the earliest stages of the project. “Directors Joel Crawford and Januel Mercado had a very creative understanding of what the music was going to be, so it was very easy to come to them and say, ‘There’s this group called BINI — they’re amazing.’ It was a no-brainer and easy to get to that point,” she says. The song incorporates composer Nathan Matthew David’s friendship theme for protagonists Jo and Raissa but reimagines it in a fresh way.

“‘A Parallel World’ is an arrival moment” composer Nathan Matthew David says. “When we recorded BINI in April, just days after they had conquered Coachella, it felt like we were capturing stardust from the cosmos—the studio bloomed with their aura. And when we recorded orchestra at the iconic Abbey Road, it was powerful and poignant to hear their voices and Tagalog moving the speakers. The song is the first taste of Jo and Raissa’s theme from our film, and we hope audiences love it.”

Producer Shawn Wasabi is proud to announce that “A Parallel World” is one of his favorite songs he has ever written and produced. “I cried watching the movie and piecing together the lyrics and sonic palette. Working with BINI and DreamWorks Animation has been deeply inspiring. There’s a shimmering aura of Filipino renaissance euphoria surrounding BINI, and I hope we captured some of that magic in the song.”

“It’s such a beautiful song that screams friendship and sisterhood, which really resonates with us as a group” says Johanna, the leader of BINI. “Friendship is at the core of everything we do, and our sisterhood is what we’re most proud of. We’ve been together for seven years, and that is something people can’t take away from us, because even if the fame isn’t permanent, our sisterhood is for a lifetime.”
