LOS ANGELES, CA – March 27th – Back Lot Music announces the release of Focus Features’ THE AI DOC: OR HOW I BECAME AN APOCALOPTIMIST Original Score with music by Grammy Award-winning composer Marius de Vries and three-time Grammy-nominated composer Matt Robertson. The film, taking audiences on a journey through the world of AI, opens in theaters nationwide today in North America, and the album is available everywhere digital music is sold and streamed.
ABOUT THE AI DOC: OR HOW I BECAME AN APOCALOPTIMIST
THE AI DOC will take audiences on a journey through the world of AI, where we will meet the people on the vanguard of this technological precipice and lay out both the existential dangers and stunning promise with an eclectic, handmade, easy to comprehend framing.
Our unique gateway into this complex subject matter is via our Co-Director, Daniel Roher, as his introduction to AI coincides with the news he is becoming a parent, leading him to question the world he is bringing a child into. Seeking greater understanding and hoping for reassurance, Daniel speaks with experts and commentators from a diversity of backgrounds: engineers, safety specialists; journalists, scholars, ethicists, philosophers; doomers, optimists; wise cautioners, foolish chaos seekers; and of course, Daniel’s sweet Dad.
The film is creatively ambitious in its approach, meta yet grounded, incorporating traditional documentary elements along with animation and other creative flourishes. It will state the problems with levity and be infused with a deep humanity throughout. Even as we play out the possible narratives of an AI-induced future, both sobering and optimistic, the film will be a fun ride that will leave audiences with a robust understanding of the promises and the perils ahead.
The team includes Co-Directors, Daniel Roher and Charlie Tyrell, Producers from the Oscar-winning teams behind Navalny and Everything Everywhere All at Once: Daniel Kwan, Jonathan Wang, Shane Boris and Diane Becker, and the Producer behind The Daily Show and Borat Subsequent Moviefilm, Ted Tremper.
